Journalist Jeff Cox has researched the life stories of nearly every man named on the three Porlock Vale war memorials.
Jeff will share moving and poignant accounts in a talk at Porlock Village Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, 1st November. In our interview, Jeff explains how little censorship there was during the Great War, with examples of letters published in his family’s newspaper – the West Somerset Free Press.
Jeff also tells a poignant story, revealed in a photo that he uncovered in Allerford. And he explains why locals gathered Exmoor moss to help the war effort.
